How long does the side effects of meth stay with you?

streetofLA How Long Does the Side Effects of Meth Stay With You?
I have used meth twice in the last 2 months. the last time was 4 days ago (I took 4 lines and smoked a little bit of it) and I still feel dry mouth, anxiety, some confusion, no desire to eat...I just want to know when this will go away so i can relax my mind.
and i have an irregular heart beat

Imgetinrite Re: How Long Does the Side Effects of Meth Stay With You?
Some will go away soon. Allot of the damage meth causes can be permanent.

The key is... To stop using now... BEFORE its too late

streetofLA I'm not a regular user
i mean...i have no plans in using it again. i used it cuz of peer pressure. But I'm just worried about my body, I've also smoked a lot of weed while i was on meth and even the days after i used meth. does this prolong the effects? and when do you think these feelings will go away?

Imgetinrite Re: I'm not a regular user
hopefully soon, just drink lots of water and get some rest.

streetofLA thankx
well i have been drinking A LOT of water due to the dry mouth feeling, but eating is unappealing to me....should i force my self to eat?

RobinW Re: thankx
Take a hot bath. eat some soup and stay the heck away from meth and even the people that you did it with.
the feelings you are so worried about and dislike now will only blaze you 1000 fold. you will be a very sad and lonely person. the "friends" you think you have will be dealing with their own demons and they will be no where in sight to help you. so be kind to yourself and stay away from meth.

read and learn from this board.
good luck...

re: Robin
will do. A drug counselor said that these feelings will go away by the end of the week. do you guys agree with that??

So much
guilt
Re: re: Robin
Meth effects every one differently. To some, 1 hit is too much. Try to relax. Lots of water, eat and take a hot bath. Try to sleep, put your mind at rest. Please avoid the temptation of meth again and re think the crowd you hang with. My 22 year old son took his life this August. 10 year drug addiction. Last 6 years using meth. Please find strength from his story at his memorial website. www.austin-hesse.last-memories.com

I'll be thinking of you and praying.

What meth does inside your brain

Take a read so you understand what you are dealing with.
I wrote that article, so if you have questions about it, let me know.

Jeez, this person said they used twice in the last two months and have no plans to ever use again.

Why are we treating him/her like an addict?
It's one thing to make sure the person knows the dangers - it's another to assume they have a drug problem when so far it doesn't look like they do.

Contrary to popular belief and especially hard for us addicts to believe, not everyone falls in love with meth like we did. Some people use once, twice, three times and decide they don't like it. It happens.

Maybe we shouldn't assume the worst unless there's a little more evidence.

Loraura Re: How Long Does the Side Effects of Meth Stay With You?
Lisa, don't you wish someone had told you not to touch the shyt before you got addicted?

I'd rather play it safe.
There is a meth epidemic in this world... because its so addictive.
I wasn't hooked my first time... but I was the second!

No disrespect to you at all Lisa, But, I think if someone has crossed the line and tried it, they need to know all the horrible things that WILL happen if they continue.

I'd rather treat someone as a addict and be wrong, then to not treat them that way and be wrong.

Just my thoughts....

Kevin

Lisa Re: How Long Does the Side Effects of Meth Stay With You?
I didn't say don't warn.....in fact I think I mentioned it was good (in fact, it's necessary) to let people know all the dangers involved in continued usage. I whole-heartedly think EVERYONE should be warned about this hideous drug and how it ruins lives. Nobody believes in prevention more than I do.
What I was commenting about was assuming this person was so far gone that they needed 12-Step, counseling, etc. when in fact, they may never touch the sh*t again. At least that's what it seemed like to me.

So sue me. LOL

We'll let you know if it ever happens.

vctry7 Re: RE:
In the beginning, it took me about a week or two to start feeling normal again. I was addicted the first time I used meth, but I didn't know it. I had cravings, but I didn't realize they were cravings. I thought I was just thinking and daydreaming about using again. I didn't think that counted as a craving.

After using heavily and then quitting it took me a couple of years to start feeling normal again. Meth forever changed me. Whatever you do, don't touch the stuff again, please. Avoid it and everyone who uses it like the plague. It only gets worse.

Did you say you saw a drug counselor? Do you already have addiction issues?
streetofLA re:re
no, I said i spoke to a drug counselor on the PHONE. I don't have an addiction. I've only used it twice. once in a small amount, and recently in a higher amount so I was just wondering if the feeling of depression, fatigue and anxiety are with drawl symptoms and how long they usually last after some1 has stopped using meth. I never even had a bad "crash" cuz i always force myself to sleep and eat the same night. but I began feeling this way a few days after i used it.

vctry7 Re: re:re
Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought maybe you were seeing a drug counselor for a different addiction.
