Comparing coke, crack, and meth to how addictive each is
What's the difference between coke, crack cocaine and meth in relation to how it's done and how addictive it is?

I remember hearing about how addictive crack was prior to meth being in the lime light.

All I know is hubby would smoke crack when he couldn't find meth. The high seemed to last only minutes compared to meth.

Interaction in the brain differences:

Meth, once it enters the blood stream, crosses thru the blood-brain barrier, stimulates the dopamine receptors to pour out dopamine and also blocks the recycle process to recover the dopamine. It takes the body 12+ hours to break down the meth to cause this activity to stop. During the time meth is actively changing brain chemistry, the body has a 3rd process which destroys excess dopamine, which is NOT blocked by meth, so the body goes about destroying a lot of dopamine for hours at a time.

Cocaine, once it enters the blood stream, crosses thru the blood-brain barrier, stimulates dopamine receptors to pour our dopamine. It does NOT block the recycle process. The body takes only a few minutes to break down cocaine, which is why the "high" from cocaine only lasts a few minutes.

Both cause over stimulation of dopamine receptors, causing some damage there.

Meth is worse than cocaine, simply from a brain chemistry prospective, because it blocks the natural recycle process and stays in the brain for so long before the body can break it down. It disrupts brain chemistry longer, and more harshly.

Cocaine "Coke" in powder form is usually inhaled "snorted." or mixed with baking soda spread on a foil and smoked. "chasing the dragon." Or injected
Crack is usually smoked,
Meth is inhaled, smoked, eaten, injected, or in some bizarre well...... you can only imagine..... and you're probably right!
Both are equally addictive.
meth was like getting hit by a Mack truck...

coke has no "leggs"

I once heard an addict of both say this:

"Crack is to speed as kindergarten is to graduate school."

Personally, I think I was dumb enough as it is have to ever tried speed, but, I really don't get people doing the crack thing. Five minutes of high, for about twenty bucks a pop?
So you end up paying four times as much, just to end up like Whitney Houston, or worse.

SEE? The sh*t really DOES make you stupid. All of it.
