What are the signs of using Meth?

What are the signs of using meth?
I have a major concern as a parent and will try and make this short. My daughter has two little kids, divorced and hooked up with a known user in the past, he hits her and hits the walls, my oldest grand daughter tells everything. My daughter is now a mere 100 lbs and that would be losing about 40 or more in the last 3 months. Her behavior is avoidance now, real close nit family and when confronted with her sunglasses on in the house, she get angry and leaves, so I don't see her unless I hunt her down. She just got fired from her job, lost her phone and isn't paying her rent. Any in put at all would be greatly appreciated....worried mom....

Whether she's using or not, I don't know. Those kids need to be taken out of that situation ASAP. If he isn't beating on them yet, he will.

Chances are, she'll end up dead eventually, most likely from him beating on her. The cycle of abuse only worsens with time. Add drugs to the equation, and you have tragedy in the works.

I am a survivor of addiction and domestic abuse. No one ever stood up for my daughter. Please intervene for those kids' sake. Please.

Re: What are the signs of using meth?
Sorry Mom but it sure sounds like a drug problem of some kind. At the very least it is an abusive home.

With your daughter being an adult, I am afraid there really isn't anything you can do to make her quit.
You can however take steps to protect your grandchildren.
Have you considered contacting CPS or asking your daughter if they can stay with you for awhile, just until she gets back on her feet?

Even without meth in the picture, it isn't healthy for the kids to be in that situation. No child wants to see their mom getting hit on.
You can't protect her, she is grown, but you can protect the children.

Dopamine/Meth/Brain info
Loraura has some real good info as well.

Stick around Mom, you are not alone.
I am sorry your family is going through this. You've come to the right place for support.

Hey Hon, I don't know your daughter, but I have a 20 year old son (addict). I would be willing to bet you money that I would have to borrow she is doing METH.....
I am so sorry, she sounds like a typical user. My son is not using right now I don't think but when he was.....
He would destroy things in his house, avoid my family, would not hold down a job, lost a lot of weight, was pale as ashes, meth sores (he said were fever blisters on his face). He could become very violent. Anything you said to him was the wrong thing.
Get those kids out of that home if there is anyway you can.
I am so sorry, I will be praying for your family. Scaredma
Sfj Re: What are the signs of using meth?
Some addicts become exceptionally skillful at hiding use. I remember I would do things that only non-users would do, in order to hide my meth use. Typical meth addict behavior can be easily spotted, so some of us would behave in deliberately deceptive manners. Things like yawning (faked), complaining about starving to death, (faked) complaining about being exhausted, (faked) acting fatigued, (faked) giggling, (faked)
You get the picture.

Some addicts get an extra thrill out of being able to “get by with it.”
Another thrill is “I got over on them.”
Or
“I’m cool, see what I can get away with?”
These things are real and some addicts take this activity to a high level of refinement.

Signs of meth use:
1. Lack of sleep, 2. Lack of appetite, 3. Nervous twitching, 4. Blaming others, 5. Grinding teeth, 6. Clenching jaw, 7. Seldom smile, 8. Avoid family and normal friends, 9. Unable to be responsible, 10. Dental and skin health gets worse. 11. Abnormally high amounts of energy, 12. Paranoia 13. Obsessive perverse sexual behavior, 14. Enlarged pupils, 15. Tweaking

Those are among the most common.

Ninety per cent of meth addicts suffer from pain of feeling extreme loneliness.
Meth use is like taking out a huge loan on future happiness and pleasure, with incredibly high interest rates and no grace period.

Please consider the following,
Stopping meth often results in:
1. Being excessively tired and sleepy 2. Being very depressed, 3. Feeling lonely, 4 Feeling fat and gaining weight 5. Lack of Ambition, Inspiration and Motivation (A-I-M), 5. No sex drive, 6. Feelings of despair 7.Possible suicidal thoughts.

Here’s what you can do:
1. Get as much info as you can
2. Develop a plan
3. Seek professional help
4. Realize the truthful limitations
5. Most importantly - Trust God
6. Discard any notion that there is an easy magic answer.

Gambling Addicts can't understand Porn Addicts, Porn Addicts can't understand Compulsive Shoplifters, Compulsive Shoplifters can't understand Overeaters, Overeaters can't understand Drug Addicts, Drug Addicts can't understand Bulimics and Anorexics, and so on. Meth addicts, are by far, the most difficult to understand. That is because methamphetamine changes the natural biology and molecular structure in the central nervous system, the brain. A meth addict’s brain has been altered compared to normal brains. But don’t give up. Most meth addicts can and do recover.

We meth addicts will stop when the pain of continued use exceeds the fear of withdrawal.

Re: What are the signs of using meth?
Regardless of what she tells you, she's using...a lot.
You have described the classic signs of meth addiction.
Sfj's site can help you understand this and hopefully keep your sanity as there is little you can do to un-hook your daughter, but there is a lot you can do for yourself and your grandchildren in terms of heart ache and emotional grief.
She hasn't "lost" anything...she has given it all away, so don't give her a red cent, it WILL be spent on dope.
Guaranteed! Nothing is more important to her at this point.
Logic has no place in her world now, more dope is the theme.
The kids safety is the paramount concern now, followed by *your* sanity. Saving your daughter should be left up to the recovery pros that are'nt emotionally attached, they can read through the BS and denial and hopefully make recovery attractive. Until then things will only get worse.
At 100 lbs. your daughter is in serious trouble, the outwardly signs merely indicate the tragic damage being done internally.
Get the kids out! They are paying the highest price for their Mothers insanity.
Be here, these wonderful people offer amazing support and compassion. 24/7...free

I felt like I had to help my son. I still buy him food at times but I do not give him any money.

Re: What are the signs of using meth?
I am sorry you are going through this. Please find out if you can let the kids stay with you or a close family member for a while. It is not fair for them to have to go thru this. Please keep us posted on what you do. There is a lot of great people who have been where you are and are great to lean on.

Again...Realize that your first priority should be to your grand kids!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. (( Hugs))

Re: What are the signs of using meth?
Ditto

Sorry your family is going through this hell. If I could only wave a magic wand and make everything better.

If removing the children is not going to occur then consider child abuse prevention agencies where families are assisted BEFORE child abuse occurs Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers or ck out Catholic Charities. Families are not charged for their help nor made to attend any organized religions etc. A mentor actually comes into the home of the family being helped (This is Nonprofit agencies). If I knew the state you lived in I can help you find the closest center.
