Meth effects on my Grandson - Help!

concernednana Effects on my Grandson?HELP1

We have just recently found out that my son-in-law has been smoking meth.
My 2 yr old grandson has been left with him at night while my daughter works, and we are VERY CONCERNED about what effects this has on little ones, who are in a house where meth is being smoked???
CAN ANYONE HERE TELL US WHAT CAN HAPPEN TO CHILDREN WHO'VE BEEN AROUND THE SECOND HAND SMOKE?

WE ARE SO WORRIED.....
My son-in-law admitted it all to me on Tuesday night, and says he wants help. He is not living in the home anymore, and my daughter & grandson are staying with us now, we are praying for my son-in-law to get the help he so desperatly needs, but we need answers as to what harm this has done to my grandson.
PLEASE RESPOND!
THANK YOU.

There are many variables in this, if the child was present in the same room, if it was the residue from the smoke long after the fact, how much and often was the consumption, how long was the term...

I am going to give you a link and I suggest you have a physician see the child.

Don't take this information from the link I am giving you as the only outcome...often worst case is presented because that is what is seen and made available to us.

Thank you for your reply!

Does anyone else have any input?

The link doesn't really give me the answers...

Re: Effects on my Grandson?HELP1

Smoking meth anywhere near children is going to put those children at increased risk of mental and behavioral probelms. They might be irritable, hyperactive and jittery. More importantly, children exposed to meth can also suffer serious lung damage. Children who breathe secondhand smoke are more likely to suffer from asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, and other lung diseases. They are also more likely to have more ear infections.

Additionally, using meth leaves you in a postion where you are less able to respond to the needs of your children. In an emergency situation, this could result in harm or death to your children. Research indicates that children in homes where there is drug use are at increased risk of being abused or neglected.

He should be fine I would not worry that much, the important thing is you got him out of the environment.

Tell your daughter to know this when you smoke meth it turns to gas then re-crystallizes in the users lungs. This is how they get high. It will also re-crystallize on their bed, floor, wall, sheets, and silverware. Shampoo the furniture, bed, carpets, clean everything in the house. If you boil water on the stove for a few hours the steam will bring the residue off the walls then you wipe down the walls with towels. Or just move out. Good Luck
