Using pens to smoke meth?

I have read several posts about finding pens and that being a possible way to smoke meth. Is this right? Can someone explain to me how someone uses a pen to smoke meth? I've found pens in the bathroom several times but they're still put together. I know he's doing meth and when I started seeing these pens I just thought they might something to do with each other. I just don't understand how it works though.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

Well we all know pens can be used to snort meth, but I have also seen my exbro inlaw take a pen apart to smoke meth ... he would put meth in a piece of tinfoil, heat the bottom of the foil, he'd put the pen in his mouth and use it to inhale the smoke ...

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

My husband would hide his dope in the pens. Take the cap off and stuff his baggie down in there.

Pen would still be intact.

My hubby would take the pens apart and use the casing to smoke.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

My ex used them to snort, smoke and hide!

You know what? It just kills me that people can be so creative in order to use a drug!

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

The hollowed out ink pen is used like a straw to snort and like a tube to smoke. When the smoke comes up you put the straw/pen/tube near it so as not to lose any. put the other end in the mouth and inhale.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

Thanks. Well I guess when I get home I'll be taking those pens apart to look for anything related to meth use. It's freaking sad when you have to start taking everything in your house apart to look for drugs. It's pathetic that I'm actually still at my house being a detective after this long. I already know deep down what's going on with my husband, yet I still keep looking for more evidence to reassure myself that I'm right. This sucks.

You know what would freak him out Amanda.

Tell him you found his tudor.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

And what then? What do you do when you find the evidence?

Amanda, I'd liked to have driven myself crazy looking for the evidence- it became a game, me against him- how good could he be at hiding and how much better I could be at finding-

Pointless.
Utterly pointless-
I didn't need to catch him red handed to know.
I knew.
I could tell by his actions or inactions as the case may be.

We had our "talks" - I have given him my point of view, he has given me his.
I'm not ready to leave nor am I ready to make him leave.
I have set my boundaries as to what I will tolerate and what I will not-
as of now, he has gone by those guidelines.

I can not control him nor can I worry myself sick over what he is doing.
I already did that.
All that was gained was an even bigger stack of bills-my hospital bills not his.

I can not stop him.
I have tried.
I have searched and destroyed, sabotaged- I even went so far as to doctor up his pen of choice with vaseline and toothache medicine, babysitted his every move when he was not at work -
and he still used.

All that I gained was the wisdom to know I will not sacrifice my life for his-
not this way.
What I lost was precious time with my children and my grandbabies.

I can not make him happy - nor can he make me happy.

I can only be in charge of me- my life, my direction, my goals, my peace of mind.

So that is what I do.

He knows the risks, he knows how I feel but ultimately it is his choice to make not mine.

But no longer will his choices stop me from enjoying my day.
No longer will I worry and cry about what he may be doing instead of being outside playing with my grandbabies , going to work, or anything else I see fit to do.

I have my goals, my dreams- things I want to accomplish with my life, examples I wish to set for my children - those that are adult and those that will be.

And I do just that- with him or without him- that is his choice.

My choice is not to stand still and stagnate.
Waste my life - waste what could be my last day to spend with those I love.

When I die, it will be said "She lived".
Not that I sit in my room , looking for evidence until I destroyed myself.

It took me a long time to reach this point-
but I am ever so grateful to all here that helped me get here.

I am using the lessons they taught me - to live.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

When smoking on foil I used the pen as a straw to suck up the smoke beause straws would get too hot and melt on the end, bic pens had thicker plastic

Thank God my pens are just simply used to write with today.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

About a week after hubby got locked up I don't know what happened to me. I looked everywhere for shyt he may have hid. All the pens, light switch covers, rafters in the basement, toilet paper roll, you name it! Everywhere he used to hide it I looked.

Call me paranoid! But the cops were watching my house for awhile (the whole meth lab suspicion) so I wanted to make sure there was nothing there!

Amandabrook, it just now occurred to me that that's why my husband always had a pen in his pocket. I plan on checking any pens that might be his, because I have kids and you know they put everything in their mouths.

Isn't it ironic how the non-user exhibits the same behavior as the users when going thru this "seek to find" stage? It reminds me of old tweekers I knew who would tear a place apart looking for stashed dope.

On a similar subject, is there a particular thing that tweakers use lens cleaner wipes for, or did my husband just really like to keep his sunglasses clean?

Very ironic XOutlaw.

jervis Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

Try and super glue all the pens together so they dont come apart... Then if he's using, the pens will be broken.... If not, then he's writing down good ideas while sittin' on his thinkin' throne... lol

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

the way you tell if it was used to do meth is either...

a)stick your tongue to both ends and see if it's bitter as hell, ....you won't get off on it.

the cops do it that way.

b)get a coffee stir or something small enough to slide thru the hollow pen and slide it against the inside of it
over a dark surface.
if powder falls out....there you go.

....it usually gets caked where the pen screws together in those grooves...
unless they stick it in water, and suck the water thru it, like a straw......
..... like I useta do. *smiles*

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

Lens cleaners, Q-tips, baby wipes ect....
...used to clean soot off of oil burners (speed pipes)
you have to SEE the shard become liquid to roll it, or you'll burn it up, very undesireable for users.

The blackshit from pipes (soot from holding fire to glass) is usually on clothes, couches, wash cloths, wet paper towels, dry paper towels, underware, curtains,
it depends on how bad you are,and how much you want to spend on such things when theres dope that needs buying.
... I guess he's a "class addict" using lens cleaners...(you mean the cloth things right?)

also the thumbs will look torn up where you hold your lighter lit for hours....
I started using candles because of it,to save my thumbs,
even the muscles going up your arm that you use when you flick your bick, hurt after a binge...
..... so then wax was everywhere from the candles.
I had to start getting red candles because white shards of wax look like....well, you know.

Is this enough brutal honesty for today folks? *smiles*

oh yeah, despie....that's "tooter"

now I'm a tooter tutor ...right?

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

I disagree Suz- not anymore.

I used to obsess- that I did.
When I first found this site.

I would take my Advil cold and sinus capsule at night- it would keep me awake - just so I could go through his pockets, search the blazer, check the pens, check the cell phones, smell his shirt -

I hid all the Bic pens, super glued, and sabotaged all the other pens, I would mark the aluminum foil, then I quit buying it, go with him everywhere he went after work or cry to get my way so he'd have to let me go with him.

I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I stayed a nervous wreck.

Every conversation I had with anybody was about meth- was he using it, did he sneak money and get it, who he talked to that day -

I played interrogation bad cop bad cop with my teenage son who was close to his father- until he just started avoiding me.

Until I came here.

My husband does not verbally abuse me, I won't let him.

My husband does not beat me- I will not allow it.

Our bills do get paid, we do have food on the table.

I am comfortable- why should I leave?

If he is doing it these days, he does it while at work or he will leave and go elsewhere.

He won't have it here- I'll turn him in.

This is my home- this is the home of my children- this is where my grandbabies come over to play.

I'm not going anywhere, he is free to go if he wants.
I'm not moving.

You can detach with love and not leave your home.
AS LONG AS you set boundaries as to what you will tolerate and what you will not.

I will not tolerate meth in my home-so he does not bring it here because he likes his home and he knows I mean what I say.
I will turn him in,I will file for divorce, and I will not be nice about it.

20 years and 2 children under the age of 18 says I don't have to be nice about it.

Now while I am unable to stop his use - that is up to him - I sure don't have to make it comfortable for him to use and I don't.

Nor do I have to change my plans, stop going for my goals, take time away from my children.

He controls him - I control me.

So no,I'm not getting sucked down into the depths of hell.
When I feel myself slipping, I come here.
You all set me straight- real quick

I do love him. I do care about him. I really really wish with all my heart he would quit totally for good- but I can't make him.

All I can do is give him the information, share my opinion, talk with him logically calmly and let it go.

That's what I do.

Re: Using pens to smoke meth?

I admire you! I reached the "end of my rope" two months ago. I finally had the courage to change, but it wasn't like I planned it. I actually tried to talk myself out of ending it thousands of times, but the action to kick him out and put the house up for sale just made its way out of me. I asked God to give me strength to put up with him some more because I really wanted to be with him despite all the bad stuff, but that did not come. Instead, a new person surface in me. I learned how to mow the lawn, maintain the pool, clean the pond, straigten out the house - HIS DUTIES. At the same time, I worked around the childrens schedule (3 kids - ages 13, 10 and 1 yr) and managed to pay the bills. So, why am I so miserable.....because I miss my HUSBAND, the the messed up meth junkie, the NICE one. I know I've hit rock bottom. I have been anticipating this time for more than a decade, but here I am. It is lonely here, but many new discoveries about self. After reading all your posts, it gives me some hope.

EmyAngel, I think God answered your prayers by showing you what you needed to learn. You are a woman of strength and power. God does not always answer prayers in the ways we expect. He is clearly working in your life. You are getting things done.

whatcha sorry for Suz- after all you are one I count on to set me straight Don't ya know I love ya?

I guess I am a lucky one- I still see more of my husband than I do the using one who stands in his place.

If it ever gets to that point where I don't see the man I married then it will be over.
And I am sure it will hurt. I am sure I will be sad and I will miss my husband-but like you Emyangel, I will learn how to do his jobs and I will go on.I only hope I can do it as well as you- You are some Lady.

All the best to you.
