Re: Walmart and meth

Holy crap that brought back freaky memories!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! Yes me my "friend" Bryan would always walk around wal-mart in the wee hours of the morning. I knew that store like the back of my hand. I guess we needed something else to do then sitting around the table getting high and cleaning the whole house 50 million times.

Re: Walmart and meth

The good old Wal-Mat. Just walk around for hours on end and walk out buying nada. That store is a tweaker's best friend.

Re: Walmart and meth

That is so funny! I would go to walmart and use it like a pawn shop!
One time I redecorated my bathroom. (rugs, towels, shower curtain.. the works). By the end of the week, all that was left was the shower liner.
I needed the money!

Re: Walmart and meth

Man I count the times Walmart was a place to go and get rid of the rest I had to dump off.I had made more money in that store then I ever spent there. I was the one that would still be in the dumpster in the back with a bic lighter looking for "treasure"

Re: Walmart and meth

oh my gosh-another one of those-i learn something new all the time. my son and his friends spent countless hours and wally world. when i would ask him why because none of them had money-he would just say "something to do." he told me the store managers would follow them around. he even confronted one once and told him they were not there to steal-just kill time. wonder if wm knows they are being used for this purpose?

Re: Walmart and meth

I had some geeked out friends that liked to go to Walmart in the middle of the night. I was invited several times but always refused. I knew they would be there for hours and I never got to far from home for long periods when I had dope. They also liked to dumpster dive and I'll admit I did that quite a bit. I never wanted to stay out long though. My home was my favorite place to tweek out.

Re: Walmart and meth

Wal Mart here is certainly a different world after midnight, it resembles a Twiggy look alike contest or the Invasion of the Stick People. Gack City!!

Re: Walmart and meth

I was at wallmart last night, on my monthy adventure to a city. There were some tweakers there.

I couldnt tweak at wallmart. There are way to many visible cameras there. I had a hard enough time being around my own imaginary cameras.

Re: Walmart and meth

As someone who is a former overnight employee of Wal-Mart, I'd just like to add my two cents.

Everyone who worked overnight knew that the night was when all the weird people came out. If they weren't all speed up, they'd be totally drunk, or high on something else. I'd say probaly 2/3 of all the people in wal-mart after midnight were that way. On my 15-minute breaks, I'd go smoke a cig outside and look at the parking lot. Atleast once everytime I was out there, I could see a drug deal going on in the back of the parking lot. Sure, police would go through the parking lot, but it was at the SAME time each night. The cops were a joke. ..

Inside, I would sometimes tease or hint to people that I knew they were high. Sometimes they'd get paranoid and leave, but alot of the times they'd see how high I was myself and just laugh about it and we'd have a good conversation. My own dealer would be in Wal-Mart almost every night. We'd do deals in the book section (where no workers really went). Othertimes I'd be working just to see him walk by, then walk by 5 minutes later. Then again, and again... Each time was different. He'd have a pop in his hand the one time, then be reading a mag the next, then by bouncing a basketball ect... ect... ect... It seems wal-mart just gave him something to do. Also, the electronics section had the new video game trials, and I'd always see people on those for hours at a time (during the night they don't care how long you play on those things).

Wal-Mart for sure is one of the main tweeker hangouts at night. There wasn't much we could legally do though. It was too hard to PROVE to the cops that they were high. We'd escort drunk people out of the store, but we couldn't do much about the speed freaks.

Anyone else know of any hangouts with a lot of tweekers? I know we always used to hang out at Perkins overnight for some reason. There was always a bunch of tweekers in there. I could never eat anything, so we'd just sit, talk, and drink coffee (like we really needed any help staying awake) LOL!

Penelope Re: Walmart and meth

The shoplifting is one of those things that I remember, and it is like I am thinking about some other person. Shoplifting is so outside of who I really am, I actually stopped doing that when I was still using.

I used to shoplift for fun, and I got really "Good" at it. I can remember that it was so blatant that my friends wouldn't go to a store with me. I never got caught at Walmart, but I DID get caught at a Lucky's store, finally. That time, my ex-husband had beat the crap out of me the day before, I had my kids at a friends house, and nothing to feed them. I got busted with a package of pork chops and a can of beans. I got away with it (They didn't call the cops) because I was covered with bruises and they felt sorry for me (Even after I slugged store security.) My "shoplifting Period" happened after I lost the first job after a dirty drug test. My other profession at that time was dope dealer - I sold dope and never had any money. Sick.

It really is hard to think back and remember that this was MY LIFE. It's hard to admit what a lowlife I used to be... until I remember that all of those times lead to who I am today, and today, I can actually look people in the eye.

What a gift recovery has been for me.

Re: Walmart and meth

Damn right. I agree with you there. I have often refered to myself as a sober tweeker. Take all the drugs and alcohol away and all the sudden I am stuck with me. No matter where I go I take me with me.

Re: Walmart and meth

Re: Walmart and meth

Even though we don't use the drug anymore, we still sometimes get the same urges for some of the same activities. Some of my friends still pull things apart and put them back together for no reason. Others, like in this case, still like going to wal-mart and just walking around; hence, you can't take the "tweek" out. Some things are just habit, others are things we still enjoy doing. Once someone's used meth, they'll never be exactly the same again.

y'all got me! i used to go to walmart 3 times a night between midnight and five in the morning! i loved that store!

Re: Walmart and meth

It took me a good month before I could go to that store after Igot clean. I still try to stear clear from there. It is a trigger for me. UNFORTUNATELY as most of you know, I used to cook the @#%$. Wallmart had a lot of what I needed. I went almost everyday.
I always wondered if the people that worked there knew I was high. If I was with someone I would talk real loud and act like we just got off work... I was always paranoid that some one would know we were "tweekers" in the middle of the night!

Re: Walmart and meth

bg75, while I worked at wal-mart, not only did I know if you were high... I'd help you find everything you needed (baggies, pills, motion sensors.... you name it.) I was high most of the time myself. I'd get so bored of straightening that I'd hide lines behind products and when I'd find them, I'd do them right there. :/ If by chance someone did come by, I'd joke with them and have a good conversation. I'd let them know I knew they were high just to get a reaction. Sad that I stocked the pharmacy (and worked in it during the days before I wen't o/n)... I had all the sudaphed I could ever want.

Re: Walmart and meth

Flyfisher,

I was waiting for that response.

When I go to wally world with my husband, he is always two departments ahead of me. I wonder if he is trying to dodge the cameras...? Is it a race? Slow down and smell the freaking roses...

Just yesterday he was sanding the tools.. I was thinking and finally asked him if he was going to use them after he sanded the rust of them? Then again, maybe I would rather they rust away. I have never heard of sanding tools..

Re: Walmart and meth

I don't know for sure if my boyfriend is using or not. My brain, and my gut, tells me that he is - but my heart wants to say know.
Here's the story:
we've been together for almost 2 years now. It started out great, we were both in school and both worked, and we spent all of our free time together. About 4 months ago he got a job at WAL-MART (this is why I'm posting in this subject). Everything was still great when he started working there. But probably about 2 months ago he started talking more about these 2 boys he worked with a lot. He said how they both got busted previously for making, using, and selling drugs (one boy I remember was for sure dealing with meth) and how the one one failed a drug test and he thought it was funny. About a month ago he started acting different. He'd act as though he was better and smarter then everyone else and get really cocky. He was also starting to sound like one or both of these boys. When I brought this up to him he said I was crazy and that he wasn't, that I was imagining it all. A couple (2-3) weeks ago he started going over to the one boys house more and more everyday until it got to the point where he would go there right after work and wouldn't return until the earliest was midnight and the latest was 7 am. I got worried a couple of times and asked him where he was, he told me at this ones boys house, I said I don't know where that is and he just said the name of the town and dropped the conversation. 6 days ago he mentioned something about maybe breaking up, when I asked him why he would cry and say he didn't know and he didn't want to talk about it. He asked me if he broke up with me if I would still be his friend, when I told him no he completely broke down and started crying and said that he would still be there for me and want to be my best friend. I told him that I wouldn't have anything to do with him (I didn't think that the reason he might be acting like this is meth). Well, he said he needed some time and space and I thought OK .... I haven't heard from him in 3 days today. I know that he's still going over to that one boys house, and yesterday all 3 of them got fired from wal-mart for theft (this is b/c he has his stuff and sleeps over at his moms house and she tells me). I don't know much about how he's been acting b/c I now just thought of him possibly using meth, so I never was really paying attention, but other then what I said there's the fact that when he does get home, all he wants to do is sleep, he doesn't really look me in the eyes or touch me (like there's no passion in out relationship), he hasn't been eating that much (last time we went out I ate more then him, which he usually eats double then what I do!). I know that he knows I don't put up with drug use. My uncle made, used, and sold meth and was caught and put in jail and rehab for it, my cousin died in his 20's from an overdoes and my father and his brother used drugs. I guess that if someone had any info for me that would help me out a lot. I'm wondering what I should do if he is using? I loved and still love this man with all my heart. I know not to let him use me and to let him hit rock bottom and find things out the hard way, but if he calls me should I talk to him about things? Try to get him to take a drug test and if he is using should I ask him to go into rehab? Should I try to be there for him, or should I do nothing at all? Should I call him or should I wait for him to get a hold of me? Before this started we talked about being together forever and getting married someday, now he's thinking about breaking up. If users and non-users who had helped or are helping the person they are in a relationship with could give me any advice that would be great. I'm so confused and feel so helpless right now, I don't know what to think.

Re: Walmart and meth

Hmm,

I wasn't going to respond to this thread because we don't have a Wal-Mart in San Francisco.

But we do have Frenchy's Adult Book Store. (24 hours)
A magnet for tweakers.

Does that count?

Re: Walmart and meth

I live in a city with half a million people in the area, and a HOPPING live music night life, and I see tweakers at the mall and in Walmart (mall closed, they had to go somewhere!)

I live like 15 miles from down town. In a pretty good area. I read a news article that they busted a lap 2 miles from my house, in some nice apartments. It was an eye-opener for me. Just when I think I buy a house in a place my kid would be safe...

Re: Walmart and meth

yes and on meth and i felt stupid. i guess i wasn't a big user. and not at all ...i really didn't like the stuff. but i felt like i had to show my man that i could keep up with him and the motorcycle thugs he was arround. but a few months in and what nothing. i bet they are still torking on the same thing. boring. sorry. i never have heard a success story from a drug user. have you.

once you have been using meth for a period of time ...it never goes away ...it will haunt you. for free. my old man still acts it but not in bed and i wasn't not with him off meth. talking about some drug you used basically for sex ....and what walking in circles. i can think about that nasty @#%$ and feel it. i have done way better drugs in my past. and i am not a user anymore but it haunts me everyday. people still see me as a user. what to do?
