Do you have nightmares
and evil dreams when using meth?
I know using dreams are common, and even nightmares. Usually my husband would have dreams where he is afraid and running away from something evil, for awhile he was having dreams of hurting people. That really scared him. He actually asked for me to call a priest to come pray for him. (he isn't catholic). Oh course he was still using at this time but he says that the voices and the dreams are so evil now. Is this common?

i think this is common, i think a majority of us have these kind of dreams and nightmares...it took a while for mine to stop coming so frequently... i do still have the occasional nightmare, and usually it is use related, but there are plenty of ways you/your husband can combat this. you can look into therapy, you can meditate, you can try relaxing breathing, you can try to associate bed time with something like aroma therapy scents... and when you wake up from a bad dream, smell that same scent again... maybe that would help.. these are all things i have tried and still use, especially the aroma therapy.. that is the one that works best for me.. well, i hope you can find out what works for you--- of course there are many, many other ideas for you, i just don't have them all... hopefully some of the other members here will post their thoughts for you, they are usually a great help and support around here good luck

Heck, call a priest. Maybe it was a clear word from God. He (God) promises to give us His words and dreams have carried those words since Bible times. God Bless ya'll luv

omg yes they're so common i have them all the time and I'm like 50 something days clean man... using dreams suck; they don't let me think straight through the whole day. some my sister has to wake me up cuz i start yelling.... ah, they're horrible. but anyway yeah they're common... i can go on... but this isn't about me so good luck 2 u guys... tell him to hang in there.... he'll be ok as long as he don't use MUCHO LOVE-------- iw2q *poke*

I am almost at 3 years of being clean and I have nightmares all of the time. I sometimes have dreams where I am using and then when I wake up, I look at my husband and I feel so guilty. It's almost as if I feel like I just used or something. It is really crazy and pretty creepy.

I've had very vivid bad dreams every single night, and full-on nightmares several nights a week since I stopped meth, which will be a year on Thursday. I've never had a using dream, though. For a while I took an Ativan at bedtime, and that seemed to block the nightmares from being as intense and frightening, but after a while it stopped working. I'm going to see a psych to see WTF is causing this to happen. A year is a long time to suffer from nightly horrors.

Maybe other meds cause this to happen.

He doesn't seem to have them as intense when he was using, but oh course he didn't sleep much. It is just lately after he is coming down they aren't just using dreams and nightmares but full blown out EVIL. EVIL faces, voices, murder dreams etc.... He has agreed to go see a priest. And I hear he has the gift of healing but better yet, can totally relate being that he was an addict before becoming a priest!

Yep very common does he go to NA or CR or CMA anything like that. If not that would be something to look into then he would have others to talk to about this and help him through it. Or heck have him stop by here and read some post or post something himself. With things like this sometimes I find just talking about it can help get it out of your system. The priest thing though is very cool my pastor is a recovering alcoholic and I think it does make it easier for them to relate! AWESOME! God bless you and your husband! |
