Meth sores, skin pores, pimples

I've heard that meth comes out of your pores. Is that true?
I've been told that the pimples that you get when you smoke meth is actually meth coming out of your pores and if you pop that or pick at it, it'll become permanently scarred.
Is any of that true?

That's what my husband said to me too. I do know that when you are on Meth, most people get this odor about them. I don't know if it is the "Meth" smell or not, but it doesn't smell good. I have met many a people that have this same kind of odor. I am sure that I did too, when I was getting high, but I never noticed it about myself and no one ever told me. I do know that I had to tell my husband to go take a shower a few times.

I never broke out. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. An ex-friend of mine on the other hand. Her face, arms, shoulders...well it is just gross. I reher being in the bathroom for HOURS, picking at her face, etc. I don't know if it is permanent or not, I do know the last time I saw her, she still had them.

My friend told me his bothers would have crystal or glass like stuff coming out of his sores when he'd pick.

Maybe an ingredient used in some forms of manufacturing crystallize when they hit air? I've seen this with some haircolor/stains.
 

Those stories are BS.

don't people pick cuz they're high, just to pick? Of course you'll have severe scrring if you pick your skin off enough. Not because of anything coming out of your pores.

My two cents,
I personally had seen first hand a meth sores.
I saw my sister's arms, legs, and face covered in those deep sores.
It was from her picking at her skin, and from the poison of meth coming out of her skin.
On the other hand, my hubby used meth for at least nine months before he started to get sores, so I think the sores are not BS, and that they DO happen and they ARE a result of meth seeping through the pores.
In some cases though, the sores appear faster on the body because the tweaker is picking at themselves.
As far as pieces of glass and such coming OUT of the sores, I personally never heard of that.

The biggest reason I've observed tweekers having unhealthy skin is that they don't sleep.

You can do an experiement. Sleep very little for a week, goto bed late and set your alarm for early every morning. By the end of the week more than likely your skin will be broken out.

When I used to use.. if my skin got bad... I went to sleep... and it was almost always looking good again by the time I woke up. Picking at it is a whole different matter and is the reason tweekers get the deep bad sores. This is caused because they won't leave them (their acne) alone and because they don't sleep their body doesn't have time to naturally heal itself so not only do the sores get worse as they are more and more damaged by the picking but they don't heal at all because the person isn't sleeping. They pick because of OCD like behavior commonly called tweeking.. not because the meth is coming out of their pores.

Further... meth will never come out of the human body as a crystal. It's extrremely water soluble.

I've had crystals in sores before, but it was from dropping the pipe, and spilling the molten hot chemical on my skin....
....it hits wet.....the re crystalizes.

Meth "crystals" don't come out through your pores...

Meth sores are caused by a lack of hygiene, excess oil production, bad diet and lack of sleep. Meth dehydrates the body causing it to pull all of the fluids from the skin, causing the skin to look a dull/greyish color. It also causes the skin to shrivel. Meth can causes halluccinations in some users which sometimes causes them to "think there are "bugs" under their skin, which they will then pick at (fixate on) until they're "out". This results in open sores on the surface of the skin which take longer to heal as the body is malnourished, dehydrated and not allowed the time to recover during sleep. A general lack of personal hygiene is also attributable to the problem.

The meth users, that I have known have never really had bad skin from picking. I can only recall one person that picked.

I do know that a user has an odor to their breath and their sweat. My ex was a very clean person, but meth caused him to sweat alot, and it had "an odor."

If I knew now what I should have known then- just kissing him, I could tell that he was using. He had a funny taste to him.

I think what Spase said about them getting sleep has something to it too. And I suppose whether they shower...

It probably depends on alot of things- like what the meth is made out of, how much you do, whether you eat and sleep...

AND.....

I have a possibly permanent case of folliculitis, aka infected hair follicles. It's all over my body, and the itching is so friggin severe, I scratch in my sleep. I leave bruises. I've NEVER "picked". Just scratched cuz it itched so dang bad.

It started when I was on meth. And sadly, mine never went away. I always used to have GREAT skin. Now it sucks azz.

My doctor explained that it probably started as one little follicle, behind my knee, I think, that got clogged and grew some bacteria. Probably from sweating and the increased body temp - that's where these usually show up, in places that are warm and sweaty (oooh...LOL).

I scratched, and it spread, the bacteria got under my nails, spread more...no "tweaking & picking", just scratching, until my whole body itched like I had bugs or something.

My doctor also said that meth affects your immune system in a BIG BAD way, so my body's resistence to even weak bacteria was down a lot. He mentioned something about meth changing the chemical or molecular make-up of my skin...but I didn't get what he was saying.

To sum that up, I have to take heavy-duty anti-inflammatories and use very strong anti-itch cream, probably for life, if I want to be free of the itching and the scarring from these little pimple-like things. Major bummer.

Sorry if that was long...I just rehow frustrating it was to not know what the hell was going on.

It wasn't the meth that did it directly, but I would probably never have had this big of a problem if I was not on meth.

I used to always think that if you didn't crush it up COMPLETELY(I snorted) that I would get speed bumps... so I was always very sure to grind it down to a fine powder with no shards before I snorted it. I never had speed bumps even when I'd stay up 4 days... Are you all sure that grinding it to a fine powder was not part of the reason I didn't get speed bumps? I'm not going to use either way, but now you've got mre really curious.

maaaaaaaaan, I never had "sores" or picked, and I ate it smoked it and snorted it....during the same run.

I got whelps tho.
....I found benedryl fixed it.

...........it's all bad.

my skin was better than my mental problems.
