How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
How many of you quit simply because you couldn't afford it any longer or because you couldn't consistently find it anymore? |

Re: How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
Me. I was hooked years ago when it was just hitting my state. I quit because we ran out- couldn't find any. I stayed quit because I realized I was an addict and I did not like who I had become. I have been clean for 11 years. |

Re: How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
Theresa, Can you imagine where you would be today and what your life would be like if Meth was easy to get? It is in so many places. I know my son can walk down the street and people will give it to him for free. People walk up to him like he is a magnet and offer it to him. And this kid has always looked like a sweet, clean cut, all American boy (with big dimples) and black sparkling eyes. Scary thought! |

Re: How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
The stuff I was getting three years ago when I finally quit was shcuh CRAP that it was a real incentive to quit - I kept spending more money to get mre stuff but wasn't even getting high from it because it was so lame (you couldn't even really smoke it - it would disintegrate once you put a flame to it). I wonder if I would have been able to quit when I did if the stuff that was around had been good stuff. I saw my dealer about 6 months after I quit and thanked him for selling me such crap - it probably saved my life in the end. |

I hated the lifestyle. Yea, too expensive in the end. Hated running it down all the time too. |

running out of money/patience
Yeah, a lot of the reason I quit when I did , instead of on my birthday in late May as I planned, was because I was getting crap, getting shorted, getting just plain old ripped off. I got disgusted and pissed off that I was not only wasting money on it, I was wasting my money on shitty @#%$! My sense of outrage overtook my desire to keep using, at least long enough to insult my connection badly enough he would certainly never sell to me again. Just burned that bridge fast and hoped I wouldn't regret it! |

ran out of money, couldn't find it, and sick and tired of failing drug tests and losing good job opportunities. |

Re: How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
for me. it was a combo of money, the quality was going down hill, dealing with tweekers, the ups and the downs of using....what a pain in the rear. Welcome to the board Dave "there once was a woman named Mrs.McNave...had 23 son and name them all Dave " - Dr. Suesse |

Re: How many of you quit meth because you couldn't afford it?
I quit because I ran out of money, and am a crappy businesswoman. I know a lot of addicts, and I think it's the ones who are real good at pushing, barter, and "the game" are the ones who have an even tougher time quitting and staying quit. They are so good at schmoozing another score, often without money, that it makes it easier for them to get dope even when they are trying to stay clean. I think my utter lack of ability in that sense made quitting easy when I simply couldn't psysically afford to get any more. I was a consumer, through and through. JMO |
