Smell of Meth from sweating?

sillyveronica Washcloth Smell - Meth?  Am I Crazy?
So last night my addict stops by again to see how my daughter is doing (she had her tonsils out a week ago). He was sweating like crazy and kept saying, "Geez, it's hot in here, did you turn the heat up?" Nope, nice and comfortable for the rest of us.

He went as far as taking his shirt off because the sweat was dripping down his face, neck, back and chest. He said he thought he may be getting the flu or something and then asked for a washcloth to wipe the sweat off. He got the washcloth wet and then wiped pretty much his entire body. I wiped off his back for him. He didn't stay long (it was too hot).

So this morning I go downstairs and I smell this funky smell as I get near the washcloth laying across the sink. I pick it up and it smells like cat pee. Is it possible that the meth is seeping out his sweat pores and literally could make a washcloth stink like that?

I already know I'm crazy, now I'm just curious.

When me guy is using I can always tell because there is no mistake by the smell he gives off when he is using.

When I was younger I remember going to this girls house to go get some dope. Her brother was crashed on the couch after a run, and he smelled SO BAD it gave me a migraine and made me puke.

No Lie. Sick.

Meth labs often produce strong odors that smell like ether, ammonia, acetone, or cat urine ...

I'm sure he could be using and his sweat could smell like the drug ...

sillyveronica Re: Washcloth Smell - Meth?  Am I Crazy?
I've always known that they could produce a "smell" from using (and he wears TONS of cologne to cover it up) ... I dunno, was just really surprised at how stinky that washcloth was - and how much it smelled like cat pee. Gross!

Thats funny, my husband never smelled bad except for one or two bad weeks when he didn't shower. But then he just smelled like he hadn't showered, not like cat pee or anything.

Hi Silly

Glad to hear your daughter is out and doing good. Tonsils are no fun. I heard it is easier the younger you are. Then again, I remember being sick when I was younger and I will never forget it! My oldest daughter had hers taken out a year ago and she suffered pretty bad.

I know what meth smells like and have smelled it on the other halfs breath before. I have never smelled it when he has walked by or been next to me that I recall. I will tell you this. I have on a couple occasions smelled something down right nasty in the room he was sleeping in. It was pretty bad. I just kept sniffing to try and figure out what the heck the smell was. Never came up with anything. It must of been him. I think it had to do with whatever type he had used.. Never know what your going to get and what they use in every batch.. Its all freaking rat poison. I hope someday he realizes he is not a freaking rat!

As far as the sweating. Yep.. Not to long ago he came home and I thought he was using.. He had the wet look going. He also had a pasty look.. It really sucks to look at him and think about what that crap is doing to his insides. I wish he was the one thinking about his body.

Crazy and curious.. You know what curiousity did to the cat don't you?

Mine always tans (compulsively tans) - *I think* to hide the dark circles under his eyes and to avoid the pasty look. Or at least I don't know too many other men who tan almost every single day.

Hmmmm....VERY good point!

it's not meth, it's scared sweat.

your sweat when you excercise smells different than if you're SCARED.

it's what dogs smell on you, when they know you are scared.

.....most animals don't like tweakers.

.....you're adrenals are pumping and your involintary "fight or flight" primitive responses are triggered by the adrendeline.

it stinks.

I'm confused ... are you saying it literally isn't meth that is causing that smell?

I know, sometimes it takes me awhile (sorry).

I also found some steroids in his bag last week when he stopped over and I **think** those make you sweat too (raise your body temp) ... but I could be wrong. He claims that he's not doing the meth anymore, but admitted to taking the steroids.

whoa!
...whole different ball game.

try this
steroids are a whole nother world of pain.
.....I had a friend that did em, man it was bad.

yes, I'm saying it's not the meth's smell.
........it's a product of what the meth does to your body.

you can sweat out toxin's, but the stink is from the way the sweat is produced.

sillyveronica Re: Washcloth Smell - Meth?  Am I Crazy?
I've been through the steroid ordeal with him from Day 1 so I know just about everything there is to know (okay, maybe not that much, but A LOT). That's what he was first into when I started dating him, and then I later found out that he was abusing meth as well (and had stopped using steroids, but was still selling them).

L-O-N-G story. It's like I've told him ... for someone who supposedly cares so much about their body, wanting to be "big" and "in shape" ... then you turn around and throw meth into it, as well as the steroids.

He also heavily abused injectable pain killers.

Yep, he's pretty much done it all, and done it in heavy quantities.

Our own dogs used to avoid us when we were tweekin, and they always had that "Depressed Doggie Face" thing going on.

Nowadays I can't keep them out of my face for 5 minutes

Interesting ... my new puppy ADORES him (shakes his butt as far from side to side as possible when he sees him).

imlostinky Re: Washcloth Smell - Meth?  Am I Crazy?
Meth,V, definitely meth. A lot of meth - to be sweating like that.
Nasty smelling cat piss smell - so did he have the gook on his teeth and dead carcus breath to go with the cat piss?

So charming and desirable- NOT!

I didn't get near close enough to him to tell (nor would I want to).

It's sad really ... it's also amazing how much more aware I am of his behavior, how he looks, etc. Very sad.

Meth can cause hyperthermia (being hot). I'm pretty sure that's what you were seeing. People sweat out alcohol through their pores, I'm sure crank is no different.
